Sendfetti™ for Android and Windows · Last updated October 6, 2026
This policy explains what the Sendfetti apps, Sendfetti for Android and Sendfetti for Windows, do with information about you and your devices. Most of it is about the phone app; Sendfetti for Windows has its own section. Sendfetti is made by an independent developer, called "we" and "us" below. If you have a question about privacy, email privacy@sendfetti.com.
The short version
- Sendfetti has no accounts and no servers of its own. What you send goes straight from your device to the one you chose, and never over the internet.
- We never see what you send, and we don't collect or sell information about you.
- Sendfetti for Android is free and shows one banner ad from Google AdMob. Google collects some information to show and measure that ad, as described below. Sendfetti for Windows has no ads.
What you send
Photos, videos, files, folders, apps, contacts and texts go directly from one phone to the other over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Phones find each other with Google's Nearby Connections, or with the phones' own Wi-Fi network when you connect with a QR code. These connections are encrypted. Nothing you send passes through our servers or anyone else's, and we never get a copy.
Received files are saved on the receiving phone, in the folder chosen in Settings.
The browser page
To share with a device that doesn't have Sendfetti, your phone starts its own Wi-Fi network, with a new password each time, and shows a web page on it. Only devices that join that network can open the page. Files go between your phone and that device over this network, not the internet.
Who sees your phone's name and details
Your phone's name in Sendfetti starts out as the name set in Android, which often includes your own name. You can change it in Settings, under This phone's name. The name is:
- shown to nearby phones running Sendfetti while you look for a phone to connect to
- visible to nearby phones running Sendfetti while you're in a group, or while two phones are reconnecting after losing each other
- part of the QR code you show, and shown on the browser page
Once connected, the phones also tell each other their Sendfetti versions, phone models, Android versions and free storage space, so a transfer can warn you before the other phone runs out of room, and how each transfer went. And the other phone gets whatever you choose to send.
What stays on your phone
Sendfetti keeps these on your phone only:
- Your settings, such as the look, this phone's name and where files are saved.
- History: what was sent and received, with the other phone's name, file names, sizes and times, and the texts and links themselves.
- A log of what the app did, to help sort out problems. It includes connections, other phones' names, file names, sizes and speeds, details of this phone (such as its model, battery level, free space, and whether Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Location are on), its network addresses, and the addresses of devices that open the browser page. It never includes the words of texts.
None of this is included in Android's backups. You can clear the history and the log in the app, and uninstalling Sendfetti deletes all of it, except copies of the log you saved to your Download folder. The log leaves the app only if you tap Send to Sendfetti support, Share log or Save copy on the Log screen.
When you tap Apps, Sendfetti lists the apps on your phone that have an icon in the app drawer, so you can pick some to send. That list stays on your phone.
Permissions
Android asks you for these the first time Sendfetti needs them.
- Nearby devices, Bluetooth and Wi-FiTo find the other phone and connect to it.
- LocationOn many phones Android won't let an app look for nearby devices without it, because scanning could reveal where you are. Sendfetti never reads or stores your location. Approximate location is enough.
- CameraOnly for scanning a Sendfetti QR code. The picture is read on your phone and is never saved or sent.
- ContactsOnly when you tap Contacts. Only the contacts you tick are put in the file that goes to the other phone.
- NotificationsTo show transfers in progress (with Cancel and Disconnect), a phone asking to connect, finished transfers, a lost connection or other problem, and apps ready to install.
- Run in the background and keep the phone awakeOnly while Sendfetti is looking for, connected to or sharing with another device, with a notification showing. No pop-up asks for these.
- Install unknown appsOnly if you install an app you received. Android asks you to confirm every install.
- StorageOn Android 12 and older, to save the files you receive.
Ads
Sendfetti shows one banner ad from Google AdMob. To show and measure ads and to prevent fraud, the Google Mobile Ads SDK in the app collects information such as your phone's advertising ID, IP address, phone model and Android version, and how you interact with ads. Google may use this to show ads based on your interests, if you allow it.
- In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, Google asks for your consent in the app before ads use your information. If you say no, you may still see ads that aren't personalized.
- Where the law gives you choices about ads, Settings in Sendfetti shows a Privacy choices for ads button so you can change your answer at any time.
- You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings, usually under Privacy and then Ads, or Google and then Ads.
Google may process this information in the United States and other countries. For how Google uses it, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.
We don't sell personal information. Under some US state laws, letting an ad network collect information for interest-based ads counts as "sharing". You can opt out with Privacy choices for ads in Settings, if it's shown, or by deleting your advertising ID.
Google services in the app
Finding and connecting to nearby phones uses Google Play services, which comes with Android on most phones. Ads use Google's ads library. These parts made by Google may send Google technical information about how they're working, such as the phone model, Android version and error reports. This is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
Sendfetti for Windows
Sendfetti for Windows is the companion app for PCs. It connects to a phone running Sendfetti with a QR code, and works the same way as the phone app: no accounts, no servers of our own, and what you send goes straight between the PC and the phone. It has no ads and no analytics.
- What you send. Files, folders and texts go directly between the PC and the phone over a Wi-Fi network that one of them makes for the transfer, encrypted the same way as a QR connection between two phones. Received files are saved in the folder chosen in Settings (Downloads, to start with).
- Your PC's name and details. The name starts out as your PC's name in Windows, and you can change it in Settings. It's part of the QR code the PC shows, and the phone it connects to sees it. Once connected, the PC also tells the phone its Sendfetti version, Windows version, PC model and free space.
- Camera. Only while the window for scanning a phone's QR code is open. The picture is read on the PC and is never saved or sent. A picture of a code you open from a file is read the same way.
- Wi-Fi. To make the PC's own network when it shows a code, or to join the phone's network when it scans one. While it's on the phone's network, the PC is off its usual Wi-Fi; when you disconnect, Sendfetti reconnects it if Windows lets it see which network that was.
- Updates. The copy downloaded from sendfetti.com checks sendfetti.com about once a day for a newer version; you can turn this off in Settings. The check asks only for the latest version number, and tells sendfetti.com the app's version. As with any website visit, the company that hosts sendfetti.com (Cloudflare) sees your PC's internet address; we don't use it to identify you. A new version is downloaded from sendfetti.com and installed only if its digital signature checks out. The Microsoft Store version doesn't do this: the Store updates it.
- What stays on your PC. Your settings and a log of what the app did, to help sort out problems: connections, the phone's name, file names, sizes, speeds and network addresses, never the words of texts. They stay in the app's own folder on your PC and are removed when you uninstall it. The log leaves your PC only if you send it to us yourself.
- Crash reports. If the app crashes and you allow Windows to send diagnostic data, Microsoft may give us a report through the Microsoft Store's developer tools. It doesn't tell us who you are.
What Sendfetti doesn't do
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No analytics or crash-reporting services of our own.
- No uploading of your files, contacts, texts or history to us or anyone else.
Crash reports and emails
If Sendfetti crashes or stops responding, and you've chosen to share diagnostics with Google, Google Play may give us a report with the phone model, Android version and the technical details of the problem. It doesn't tell us who you are.
If you email us, we use your message, and anything you attach, only to answer you, and delete it when we're done. Send to Sendfetti support on the Log screen opens an email to support@sendfetti.com with the log attached; nothing is sent until you send that email. A log can include other phones' names and file names, so look it over first if that matters to you.
Children
Sendfetti isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information is held about you, and to have it corrected or deleted. The app doesn't send us personal information, so apart from emails you've sent us, there's usually nothing for us to hand over or delete. What Sendfetti keeps is on your phone, and you can delete it yourself. For information Google collects for ads, use the choices above or Google's own privacy tools. You can always email us at privacy@sendfetti.com, and if you're in the EEA or the UK you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
